With it’s opening this past April, the company continues to welcome new patients at it’s new Allentown location. Committed to offering the same excellent care to patients within this new community, the company also welcomes the addition of three Certified Hand Therapists joining it’s team.
Operating out of their New Britain and Quakertown offices, The Institute for Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation has acquired and maintained a wonderful reputation within it’s communities. The owner, Linda Stanley, graduated from Temple University with her BS in Occupational Therapy in 1984 and has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 1991 when the first Hand Therapy Certification Exam was offered. Having a positive relationship with physicians and referral sources to aid with communication for optimal care, Linda and her team treat a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions. The company specializes in the rehabilitation of injuries and related conditions that cause impairment of function in the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. They pride themselves on developing individualize treatment plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes and believe that patient input is necessary for achieving an excellent result.
With the opening of the new office in Allentown, The Institute for Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation is working closely with a network of leading physicians and orthopedic specialists in the Lehigh Valley and welcomes a few new employees. Educated at Temple and MCP Hahnemann Universities, Cheryl Kunkle, has been a Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist since 1985 and a Certified Hand Therapist since 1991. Cheryl’s areas of treatment interest include rehabilitation of fractures of the hand and arm, tendonopathies, tendon injury, Dupuytrens contracture release, as well as custom orthotic fabrication for hand and arm wound management. Her treatment philosophy is that “it is most important to put the needs of the patient first…Through continuing education, close relationships with hand surgeons and communication with colleagues across the nation, I promise myself I will do nothing less than remain at the top of my game for my patients.” Additionally, the new office welcomes John Farabaugh who graduated from Temple University in 1988 with a BS in Occupational Therapy and has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 1995. John’s areas of treatment interest include hand and upper extremity therapy, splint fabrication and design, functional capacity evaluations, work conditioning and work hardening, ergonomic assessment of the working client, and post-surgical arthritis care. His treatment philosophy is that “Hand Therapy Services should empower and enable a patient to make maximal gains in order to recover function and return to previous level of involvement in life roles.”
A third therapist, Jason Mock, OTR/L, CHT will be joining the team at the end of September, 2016. Stanley states, “He comes to the company with a sincere interest in providing patients with the quality of care they have come to expect from The Institute for Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation.”
The new Allentown office is open weekly Monday through Thursday 6am-6pm, as well as on Fridays 6am-4pm and accepts all major insurances.
