Mariana Flores shares screen with Gaby Mellado in the feature film “An American Funeral”
LOS ANGELES, CA – 12/15/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Los Cabos native Mariana Flores has been cast in the role of Rosario Arenas, a member of the powerful and wealthy Arenas family, in the film directed and written by Kevin Edward Greene.
An American Funeral is the story of three cat burglars who make the mistake of trying to rob the Arenas family home while the entire family is attending the funeral of a relative. The would-be burglars end up fighting for their lives when the burial is postponed, and the family returns home sooner than they thought.
Working with acclaimed director Kevin Edward Greene was a unique experience, says Flores. “He has a vert clear vision of what he wants, and really knows how to draw the best performances out of his actors.” The set of An American Funeral was “lots of fun, and very professional,” says Flores. “Collaborating with Gaby Mellado was so much fun. I learned so much from working with such an industry veteran, and I really hope to work with her in future projects. Gaby is a great actress and friend.”
We can also see Mariana as the protagonist of “Disciplinary Garden Society,” where she portrays a rebellious student at a well-known reform school – who is also an undercover crime fighter. Rosa, played by Mariana, along with Giselle (played by Nora Foley), form a secret society to bring down enemies who are trying to destroy the Academy. But the complex dynamics of the relationship between Giselle and Rosa threaten to compromise the entire mission, as well as the defense of the Academy. “Rosa is one of the best roles I’ve ever played,” explained Ms. Flores. “The relationship between Rosa and Giselle is so interesting, frustrating, complicated, and rewarding all at the same time.”
Mariana Flores Born and raised in Los Cabos B.C.S. At the age of 20, she moved to Los Angeles, California to study full-time acting career at Stella Adler’s prestigious Acting Academy. During her time in Los Angeles, she appeared on stage in Clifford Odett’s classic play “Waiting for Lefty”, directed by Oscar and Emmy-winner Milton Justice.
Since then, the Mexican actress has never stopped working on films, plays and more. Among her other credits, we can find “12 Angry Jurors”, directed by May Winner, and “The Rimers of Eldrich”, directed by Stan Harrington.
Mariana shows no signs of slowing down, as she’s been cast to star in two features in 2017 and 2018 (which have not yet been publicly announced). We’ll be keeping an eye out for what this Baja beauty does next.
