Berwyn, IL, December 19, 2016: Chicago Mustangs is pleased to announce the appointment of its new GM Tim Maher ahead of the 2017 season. Rick Sanchez, the owner of the veteran MSFL team, has already confirmed the news. The former Director of Broadcasting and Marketing for Lincolnway Patriots for the last 4 years, Maher is excited to don the new role with the Mustangs.
Added to being the GM for the Chicago Mustangs, Maher will also be broadcasting the team’s football games from now on.
“We are thrilled to announce that we have recently appointed Tim Maher as the new GM for Chicago Mustangs”, stated Sanchez while announcing the news of the major personnel change in the team’s front office.
“Maher comes to us from the current MSFL champ Patriots where he had been the Director of Broadcasting and Marketing for the past 4 years. A football veteran backed by immense rapport with the football community, Maher is the perfect man for us to continue with the revered tradition of our Mustang football.”
One of the most notable alumni of St. Rita High School, Maher has been playing football since his high school days. He continued with his game in his local community college (Morton Junior College) but after a year he was appointed as the Head Coach for the Freshman Football Team at Mt. Carmel High School. Later, he created his Semi-Professional football squad where he both played and coached. He has even shouldered the roles of Freshman Head Coach for Leo High School & Defesnsive Co-Ordinator at Bogan High School. Maher had won the elite Chicago City Championships both as a player of the St. Rita High School and as the Coach for Bogan High School. In addition to his football career, he had run several tournaments for 16 inch Softball & had been a leading talk-show host. An honorary inductee into two Hall of Fame honors- 16 inch Softball in 1997 and St. Rita’s in 2007- Maher is also the host of famous 20-year-old Television show Chicagoland Prep Report that zeroes on high school, youth and semi-pro football.
“It’s a great honor for me to sport the role of GM for the Mustangs. What pleased me the most about the team was the hard work and dedication of owner Mr. Sanchez and I am also impressed with the works of Dan Kohut, Mustangs Head Coach. Yes, the Patriots were quite dominating over Mustangs this year with 50-0 lead at half- but in a situation where other squads would simply lay down with a running clock, Mustangs acted differently. Coach Dan and his squad regrouped right at the half time and powerfully outplayed the Patriots in the whole 2nd half. And, that’s a real winner for me”, Maher added in.
