LD Products, a multifaceted printing and office supply company, worked with Hytrol and integration partner, McCombs-Wall, to design and install an energy-efficient automated material handling system capable of accommodating the company’s growth. The new system not only met the standards for its LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) headquarters but allowed for future expansion, including increased capacity, accuracy and speed.

As illustrated in this Relationship Focus case study video, a key component of the system is Hytrol’s E24™ 24-volt motor. This energy-efficient motor is used to transport totes and shipping cartons from LD Products’ A-frame system to one of several areas inside the facility, including the manual small package area, consolidation put-to-light system, and the United States Postal Service (USPS) packing area.
Through the efforts by Hytrol and McCombs-Walls, the material handling solution designed for LD Products accommodated an increase in throughput, as well as their unique variety of SKUs. With this solution in place, LD Products was able to reduce their workforce by 53 percent. In addition to the technical benefits, the company was able to utilize Hytrol’s backlog of training resources to provide support whenever necessary for its system.
