About Howard Hewett
Howard Hewett is an iconic R&B and gospel singer and former lead vocalist of the Multiplatinum selling group Shalamar. The trio is best known for such hits as; “Second Time Around”, “A Night to Remember”, “Dancing in the Sheets” and the classic ballad, “This Is for the Lover in You”. Hewett was the group’s lead singer from 1979 until 1985, and went on to pursue a successful solo career, signing an exclusive deal with Electra Records in 1986. Under the Electra banner, Hewett would go on to release such R&B classics as, “I’m For Real”, “Stay” and “Say Amen”, with “Say Amen” becoming a surprise hit on the gospel and R&B charts.
With its poignant lyrics and amazing vocal performance, this gospel classic is considered by many to be Mr. Hewett’s signature song. Lamont Brown – Spent his first ten years in the music business serving as a personal manager for a litany of Multi-platinum selling writers and producers, working with such artists as, Paula Abdul and Shaquille O’neil. His prolific career had him working with such labels as; Warner Bros., EMI, and Virgin Records. In his second decade in the industry, Mr. Brown would go on to Executive produce and manage projects for such legends as, Glady’s Knight and Howard Hewett. His collaboration with Gladys Knight on her 2001 release “At Last”, would go on to win the Grammy Award for “Best Traditional R&B Album of the Year” in 2002. Floyd Wilcox – p/k/a Flip Matrix has done it all from record production to film scoring. His work is featured on projects from such artists as; 50cent, Scarface, Ice Cube, MC Ren, Capone and Noreaga, MOP, MC Lyte, WC and Jayo Felony. In 1998 Flip was formally introduced to the hip hop community by Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, producing “Fiesta” and “Who am I” for the Grammy nominated duo. Through his prolific career, Mr. Wilcox has also written and produced for such projects as, “I Ain’t The One” featuring west coast rap icon WC, “I Wanna Ride” Featuring legendary NWA members “Ice Cube” and “MC Ren”, and “Stompdash*toutu”, a track which appeared on the “Cradle 2 the Grave” Soundtrack featuring Capone & Noreaga and M.O.P. Changing lanes.
Gary V. Brown – has been in the music industry for over 25 years. He began his career as a member of the legendary R&B group “Kool and The Gang”. After his time with the super group he went on to record a solo album entitled “Rhythm or Romance”, under the Capitol Records banner. His single “Don’t Make Me Beg” entered the top 10 on billboards R&B charts. As a writer and Record Producer Gary has amassed 4 Grammy award nominations; working with such artists as Justin Timberlake, George Benson, Barry White, Paulina Rubio, Gladys Knight, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack, and Chaka Kahn to name a few. He has also scored numerous television commercials for such clients as; Burger King, USAA and McDonalds. His work can also be heard on the multi-platinum “Kidz Bop” compilations, as well as original compositions for the films “On The Line” (N’SYNC) and “Roll Bounce” (Chaka Kahn).
Steve Russell – also known as “RANDOM” from the early 90’s R&B group Troop, has re-emerged as one of the most sought-after songwriter/producers in the industry today. He’s written and produced on albums which have accumulated more than 35 million sales and several top ten hits. Russell has penned material for such artists as, Chris Brown, Ruben Studdard, Jordan Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese, Monica, and the great Charlie Wilson. In 1990 as the lead singer of the R&B group Troop, Steve melted hearts singing the ballad “All I Do Is Think Of You” which hit Number One on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts.
