TORONTO, ON – 14 Mar, 2017 – Share Lawyers, Toronto’s leading disability law firm, revealed the findings of a survey showing why some clients opt out of pursuing legal action against their insurance company over denied Long-Term Disability benefits. The findings point to the misunderstanding of this valuable legal process and its impact.
“It’s important to gain insight into why so many people choose not to fight,” said Share Lawyers President David Share. “Most often, it’s in their best interest to seek legal counsel.”
The findings show that many are apprehensive about legal representation. Some believe it’s either too expensive, the outcome will not be a positive one, or both. In fact, one fifth of people surveyed decide to take no legal recourse at all, and nineteen percent of the people surveyed said they decided to go back to work while managing the symptoms of their disability.
Not seeking legal action, however, can have negative outcomes as well.
“Many people are afraid to seek the benefits they deserve,” said Mr. Share. “This is why Share Lawyers doesn’t charge clients for services unless we win, and our fee comes out of the money we recover.”
Share Lawyers values doing everything they can to set realistic expectations for their clients. The firm communicates with clients every step of the way.
Details of the survey’s findings can be found on a recent post on the Share Lawyers blog, which also posts regularly about successful claims, testimonials from clients, and the challenges faced by those suffering from Long Term Disabilities.
“We’re proud of our record of success,” said Share. “But we’re even more proud of the relationships we’ve built with clients through trust, communication and compassion.”
