Carlos Alvarez (known as Monstarr), a New Jersey-based hip-hop artist, producer, and performer born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, announced that at his upcoming performance at the Juice Cathedral in Jersey City on April 1, 2017, he will be debuting a new single, Getaway, off of his Rotation album.

Known for being an innovative, transcendent, and empowering hip-hop performer, drawing on personal elements from his rough New Jersey upbringing coupled with his experiences as a Honduran immigrant in the United States, Monstarr’s smooth melodies and raw, inspirational lyrics have garnered him an impressive fan base and social media following to date.

“My music conveys the hardships and the rawness of growing up in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, especially as an immigrant,” said Monstarr. “But, I like to relay the positivity to my fans, too, by releasing songs about enjoying life, never giving up on your dreams, and just having fun.  I aim to capture the authenticity of my experiences in carefully produced and crafted hip-hop music.”

Monstarr has secured himself as a solid up-and-coming artist in the greater New York City region, having been featured on New York’s Hot 97.1IFM’s “Who’s Next,” and was ranked one of the top three artists for three consecutive months on the channel. To date, he has been cosigned by some of the world’s top DJs, including the likes of DJ Wallah, DJ Carmilo, and more.

Recently, Monstarr’s upcoming single, Getaway, was played on Hot 97.1FM by DJ Drewski this past month. The single will appear on Monstarr’s highly anticipated album: Rotation.

“Nothing is better than sharing my new creations with fans from around the country,” said Monstarr. “I’m excited to hear listener’s feedback, and I can’t wait for the Juice Cathedral performance on Saturday, April 1st.”

Monstarr will be performing at Moxie 1973 Juice Hip-Hop Exhibition at the Juice Cathedral on 380 Montgomery Street in Jersey City. The event will kick off at 1PM and has no confirmed end time.

Passionate about music from a young age, Monstarr attributes his early inspiration to Tupac, Nas, and Big Pun to name a few. Today, he hopes to share music that helps everyone to feel proud of their upbringing and harness their own hopes and dreams amidst a turbulent society.
