Entertaining Expert & Master Cocktail Connoisseur, Mark Addison, Talks Floral Cocktails at Simon Pearce Luncheon

On a recent sunny Sunday afternoon, spring was in full bloom at the Spring Floral & Cocktail luncheon at the Simon Pearce flagship store in Queechee, VT. What better way to celebrate the end of a long, cold winter and welcome spring’s arrival than over an imaginatively prepared meal in a beautiful setting with stunning views while chatting about flowers and craft cocktails?!

Mark states, “I was thrilled to take part in this elegant event, where guests enjoyed a delectable three-course lunch from Simon Pearce’s new spring menu. Between courses, I joined Tedd Kapinos, owner of Jasper & Prudence Floral and Events, where we took turns talking to a packed house about flower arranging and my favorite subject—cocktails!

Mark engaged the crowd with the conundrum… What IS a signature cocktail?   Easily put Mark replies… “Think of your signature cocktail as you would your signature fragrance or handshake- it’s your beverage calling card of sorts.” Mark went on to discuss the 3 most important aspects of cocktail making, which are; a good recipe, flawless glassware and of course, the name says it all   During the event, Mark demonstrated two sublime floral spring cocktails, The Provence and The Sangria Flora.

The Provence is ideal for any elegant occasion. In this version, bitters are replaced with the floral complexity of homemade lavender syrup.  Sangria Flora, the perfect marriage of a crisp summer wine and elderflower liqueur.  One of the best parts of this drink, is you can customize the beverage with any fruit you prefer.  A flower garnish is the perfect finishing touch for this summer pleaser.

Mark’s entertaining and design expertise, along with his dynamic personal style, have made him a sought-after authority. He has shared his ideas on throwing parties, mixing signature cocktails, home décor, and cooking for guests in more than 100 television appearances on the Today show, Access Hollywood Live, FOX News, and Rachel Ray. He is also a frequent contributor to magazines such as InStyle, People, Better Homes and Gardens, and Hamptons Magazine. Mark splits his time between New York City, Palm Beach, and Vermont. He is always energized by his shifting environment and inspired by the natural beauty of his surroundings. This brings a fresh perspective and contagious optimism to all his work, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.  Addison has a new book, Cocktail Chameleon, coming out with Assouline Summer 2017.
