WASHINGTON, DC – 5 May, 2017 – Multiple award-winning international music artist David Longoria will lead the featured entertainment at the 19th Annual White House Prayer for Our Nation on Saturday, May 20th on the Ellipse south of the White House. The all-day prayer event begins at 10:00 a.m and closes at 5:00 p.m., with many gathering for the music entertainment from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The White House Day Of Prayer for Our Nation event has been organized every year since 1998. “The yearly gathering is always a momentous occasion promoting prayer and unity of all people from all walks of life,” says Rev. Dr. Terry Lee, an emigrant from Jamaica, West Indies, who founded the event.
“The core is the empowerment of bringing various religions together to focus on praying for this Nation, its leaders, families and individuals. This year we will honor our Armed Forces in a celebration of our heroes past and present,” he says.
“As divided as we have become, it’s important that we do something for unity and stand up for each other, and stand up for our nation,” says Mr. Longoria in a YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=iE5eC2Ey9j8
“This is a great chance for people on all sides of the political spectrum to put down their politics and their biases for a day and lift up our voices to pray for each other and for our nation,” he adds. “I will be bringing a live performance of my song, ‘We are one’ supported by a 1,000-person choir – beautiful voices, blessed voices.”
Longoria brings the theme song and theme to this year’s event: “WE ARE ONE”.
“I wrote We Are One to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the historic song We Are The World from superstars Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie which brought awareness to hunger in Africa,” Longoria explains, adding “I needed to take on a big issue of today and bring voices together to add strength to the message.”
The production was meant to last a couple of weeks and combine 20 voice with Longoria. “I stared adding artists and more and more came on board until we had more than 700 in total, ranging from Motown stars to artists of today,” he says.
They recorded in studios across America over two years and music artists of all genres, races and ages added their voices, holding the message true as they built one strong voice. The effort has gained the attention of both world record books and the music industry with announcements forthcoming.
Longoria was invited to bring the message in music to the annual outdoor event at The White House. To present it he enlisted the help of voices from across the country making up a huge choir for the day. Singers from churches and organizations all over are coming to the nation’s mosit famous residence to launch the message of unity and encouragement for all.
“If we believe the message of “We Are One we have to go the distance to get it in front of everyone and this is the place to shout it out, ok sing it out,” Longoria says. “Everyone needs to know they are part of our family and we share love and our uplifting message of hope and unity with them,” he says, adding, “on this day there are no politics, just love and support.”
The May 20th launch leads the way to a series of concerts this fall starting in Los Angeles and visiting cities most affected by raciala dn political divide. The proceeds from downloads help bring the workshops, scholarships and concerts with weareoneconcerts.org . On the site are the lyrics and music to learn. The song is available now on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and wherever music is streamed and sold.
The Day Of Prayer’s special Music Hour begins at 3pm. “There will be many wonderful surprise guests including recording artists, national leaders and members of the Military, teachers, children’s groups and more”, Longoria says, adding “you will leave uplifted and encouraged!”
