MANCHESTER, NH – 5 May, 2017 – Dan Quirk has taken a particular interest in supporting education and helping young people in the community. Always finding ways to reach out and provide opportunities for the next generation, Daniel J. Quirk has college students interning and occasionally working on special projects in all areas throughout the dealerships. Quirk has offered college students a chance to gain experience and compete for permanent positions while attending classes and getting hands on experience in marketing, sales, automotive repair, and human resources.
Daniel Quirk has also reached out to local high schools and middle schools to bolster programs that help enrich students and support teachers.
Six years ago Quirk created a “Tech Team” of student interns from Cristo Rey High School in Dorchester. When asked why teens were the preferred choice for this program, Quirk said, “They’re quick to learn about new car technologies, and we have them showing customers how everything works. It’s a great experience for the kids, learning about business, technology, and dealing with people. It’s good for the customers, too.” The students go through Ford’s Sales-support Certification Program and are trained in customer service as an ordinary employee. The program enables these local middle and high school students to learn about the automotive business, technology, and how to interact with people. Quirk also believes that the program offers a great opportunity for employment.
The strategy evolved out of the dealership’s participation in Ford Motor Co.’s Drive 4 UR School program, which donates $20 to a local school each time someone takes a test drive during a fundraising period. Daniel J. Quirk started these events at his Ford dealership in 2011 and has raised more than $100,000 for these local programs. The previous Drive 4 UR School events have benefited:
- Quincy Youth Football & Cheerleading
- Quincy Youth Baseball & Softball
- Quincy Youth Hockey
- Quincy High School Senior Night Out
- Quincy High School Boys Hockey
- Quincy High School Lacrosse
- North Quincy High School Football
- North Quincy High School Girls Basketball
- North Quincy High School Boys/Girls Hockey
- North Quincy High School Baseball
This year you can join Dan Quirk with all of us at Quirk Ford in Quincy, MA for the Spring Drive 4 UR School event on Saturday, May 13th! Ford offers a $20 donation for each valid test-drive, which can be used for sports, booster clubs, music programs and the many other miscellaneous expenses associated with running a school.
Daniel J. Quirk is still helping his community after 40 wonderful years of service and is looking forward to all of the upcoming events that are planned for 2017. Stay up to date with all of the exciting events happening at our Quirk dealerships Facebook and Google+ pages!
