Los Angeles, CA (May 9, 2017) – From TriCoast Entertainment and Broad Green Pictures comes the DVD release of WAIT TILL HELEN COMES, the long awaited film adaption of the best-selling book of the same name by popular children’s author, Mary Downing-Hahn. Following the success of its debut on Lifetime as “Little Girl’s Secret,” WAIT TILL HELEN COMES the DVD will be available in stores and on major online retailer sites beginning May 9.
True to the book, the film revolves around a blended family’s encounter with the ghost of a mysterious little girl as they move from the city to a converted church in the country. Heather (Isabelle Nélisse), the youngest child, rattles their much hoped for quiet country life by forging a dangerous relationship with the ghost. Her elder stepsister Molly (Sophie Nélisse), terrified of ghosts and battling her own teen troubles, is faced with overcoming her fears as she attempts to rescue her misled stepsister. In a story that’s terrifying and poignant by turns, Molly gradually realizes that she has a special gift: she sees and hears things others don’t. And even though Heather doesn’t make things easy for her stepsister, Molly must save her before the ghost lures her to certain demise. Molly seems to be the only one who sees and understands what is happening to Heather. As her mother, Jean (Maria Bello), grows skeptical of her stories, and more and more concerned about her fragile “condition,” Molly becomes reclusive and is forced to take matters into her own hands.
WAIT TILL HELEN COMES is the first feature film by the best-selling and award-winning young adult novelist, Downing-Hahn, who makes a cameo appearance in the film. First published in 1986 – and never out of print – the novel is now in its 20th Printing at HMH Publishing, and appears on numerous US schools recommended reading lists.
WAIT TILL HELEN COMES is directed by Dominic James and adapted for the screen by Victoria Sanchez Mandryk. The film stars Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Callum Keith Rennie (Fifty Shades of Grey), Isabelle Nélisse (Mama), and Maria Bello (Prisoners, A History of Violence). Lead Producers are André Rouleau, Don Carmody, Victoria Sanchez Mandryk, Valérie d’Auteuil from Caramel Films and Inferno Pictures, with executive producers Scott Mednick and Manuel Freedman.
WAIT TILL HELEN COMES DVD will be in stores at Family Video (www.familyvideo.com), the largest movie and game rental chain in the US, and online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Walmart.com and BestBuy.com.
