Adams, Enzler to Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards

WASHINGTON, DC – 25 May, 2017 – The John S. Mulholland Family Foundation ( has announced that Father John Adams and Monsignor John Enzler will receive the 2017 John S. Mulholland Lifetime Achievement Award, to be presented at A CAPITAL EVENING IV on Friday, November 10, 2017 at The Capital Hilton.

The Award is presented each year to individuals who have provided inspiration to the Foundation through their lifetime of service to the poor. Last year’s honoree was Stephen Rosenberg, Founder and President of Greystone (

Father Adams has been the President of SOME (So Others Might Eat) ( for more than 35 years. SOME is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. They meet the immediate daily needs of the people they serve with food, clothing, and health care. SOME helps break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Last year, SOME served over 380,000 meals, 14,500 sets of clothing, 3,500 doctor/dentist visits — as well as emergency housing, comprehensive addiction services, support and care of the homeless, safe and affordable housing, intensive job training, and a host of other services.

Monsignor Enzler has been the President and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington ( for more than six years. Catholic Charities works to create a world in which every person is cherished, regardless of individual limitations, and strengthened in the use of personal gifts in order to reach his or her full potential as a valued member of the community. They provide a wide variety of service including food assistance, housing and shelters, employment and adult education, medical and dental and mental health care, help for children and adults with disabilities, prison outreach, help for immigrants and refugees, services for infants and expecting parents, substance abuse, and much more.

Both Catholic priests for many years, Adams and Enzler have devoted their lives to care of the “least among us” (MT 25:31-46) and their individual accomplishments in this arena are many.

John S. Mulholland is a Washington, DC based 501(c)(3) charity servig the working poor of the city by providing food for four food pantries in the District’s poorest neighborhoods.
