RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – 26 May, 2017 – Reaching out to parents and kids at the 27th Annual Kids Day event held in Rancho Cordova CA, the Foundation for Drug Free World sponsored an information booth encouraging youth and adults to take the drug free pledge and handing out educational materials.
Local Foundation Director of the Sacramento Chapter Nathan Johnson drew upon his experience in drug education with youth to help encourage kids not to take drugs and raise awareness of parents on the growing prescription drug abuse problem by providing them the “Truth About Prescription Drugs” booklet which the Foundation provides as a public service to help identify the problem and create prevention.
Johnson added that “while we are out raising awareness today and helping to create prevention through education, law enforcement are staging the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day encouraging citizens to empty their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of prescription drugs at various locations throughout the City. We believe that this day brings about the opportunity to provide a two-pronged approach with the tangible action of removing unsafe prescription drugs by law enforcement and educating on the dangers of the drugs by our organization” – said Johnson. Joining him in the effort were local volunteers who got dozens of drug pledges done and handed out well over 600 educational booklets.
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. The Foundation is especially thankful to the generous support and donations from Scientologists around the world that help keep the materials free of charge.
Church members derive the inspiration to help from their church Founder L Ron Hubbard who wrote; “If one is to fully address the agonizing effects of drugs – It is necessary to gain a greater understanding of what drugs really do to the body and mind”.
The Truth About Drugs booklets fill that need with the most up to date materials regarding the effects of drugs. Representing the largest non government funded drug education campaign in the world the Foundation through a worldwide network of volunteers, have distributed over 50 million drug prevention booklets, delivered tens of thousands of drug awareness events held in some 180 countries and Truth About Drugs public service announcements have been aired on more than 500 television stations
