REDLANDS, CA – 23 Jun, 2017 – Sonya DeLange, Co-Host, Co-Producer of the Gathering Place TV Program on Loma Linda Broadcasting Worldwide Television Network, and also Speech Language Pathologist since 1975, was selected as Top Professional of the Year for 2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Sonya has also been a member, as well as Personnel Coordinator, of the Loma Linda University Church Choir over 20 years. She is an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators.
While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With over 4 decades of professional experience as a successful female business leader, Sonya has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in many fields. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, she has demonstrated success not only as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist holding a Certificate of Clinical Competence for Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District in California for 36 years, currently employed by Mediscan, but has also spent 21 years working with Loma Linda Broadcasting Worldwide Network, on a volunteer basis. With Sonya’s diverse background and experience she was able to serve as a Co-host, Co-producer and Content Creator for the network. She stated that her most gratifying experience has been creating, developing, hosting and singing for “The Gathering Place”, a tv religious program featuring vocalists and instrumentalists singing and playing to familiar gospel melodies on www.llbn.tv. This program is televised at least eighteen times weekly. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Sonya for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is talented, bright, beautiful and brilliant at what she does and we felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization. We are looking forward to meeting her at the gala and know we will be seeing more amazing things from this amazing woman.”
Sonya recalls while volunteering with LLBN TV, she really fell in love with the role of hosting religious programs, television and producing. Under the guidance and influences of Ganim Hanna, the President and CEO of LLBN-TV and also Dr. Randy Roberts, the Senior Pastor of Loma Linda University Church, Sonya really found her niche. Sonya received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Loma Linda University in 1980, also earning her California Teaching Credential. She received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing association and became licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist through the State of California. Throughout her career as a SLP, Sonya served as a Supervisor to numerous students training for a Masters’ Degree in the profession from surrounding universities. She has also served as a Facilitator for the Masters’ Program at Loma Linda University’s Communication Disorders Department.
Throughout her illustrious career, Sonya has received numerous awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2013 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award by Worldwide Branding. In 2012 she was named the Teachers’ Choice Speech Pathologist by the District of Employment, honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from Loma Linda Broadcasting Network. In 2010 she was chosen as Biltmore Who’s Who VIP of the Year. In 2007 Sonya was inducted as a lifetime member with Cambridge Who’s Who. In 2009 selected as Outstanding Professional of the Year. Sonya has had a chapter dedicated to her in Top 101 Industry Expert publication and has been featured in Pro-Files Magazine. For 2017 now selected as Top Program Creator of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals and is being considered for their 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award and having a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professional) Magazine. Sonya is a member of California Speech and Hearing Association, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, and has sung first soprano with the Loma Linda University Church Choir since 1996.The LLUC choir has performed at Disney Hall in Los Angeles, CA and just performed “Belshazzar’s Feast” composed by William Walton under the Direction of Dr. Ariel Quintana.
Looking back, Sonya attributes her success to her positive attitude, her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way, and her passion for helping people and volunteering. When she is not working she enjoys riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle, waterskiing, snow skiing, boating and spending time with her two beloved grandchildren. For the future, now that she has retired from full time employment as a SLP, she is making arrangements to supervise those training in her profession as well as committing herself to volunteering for the Loma Linda Broadcasting Network. Sonya wishes to continue to make a difference in people’s lives any way she can.
