NEW YORK, NY – 26 Jul, 2017 – Obsess, a technology startup building a virtual reality (VR) platform for experiential shopping, announced the launch of an in-store VR and web 360 shopping experience today for Vera Bradley. Vera Bradley is a leading designer of women’s handbags, luggage and travel items, fashion and home accessories and unique gifts. The experience showcases the first Bedding Collection from Vera Bradley that debuts on July 27, 2017 and offers an immersive and contextual view of the beautiful and extraordinarily crafted bedding pieces.
The fully interactive in-store VR experience was created on Daydream, which is Google’s platform for high quality, mobile VR. From July 27, it will be available for shoppers to experience with the Daydream View headset at 10 Vera Bradley stores across the country. The Vera Bradley VR app is also available on Daydream for users at home as one of the first shopping apps on the VR platform. The interactive web 360 shopping experience will be available on verabradley.com and can be viewed on mobile and desktop without a headset.
The innovative experience developed with the Obsess Shoppable 360 Spaces VR product lets a shopper view 4 fully styled sets of comforters, quilts, coverlets and pillows in Vera Bradley’s new Bedding Collection. The shopper can move around the bed in Virtual Reality to see the intricate design details on the products from all sides. They can switch the bed from one set to another to get inspiration for different combinations of colors and patterns. They can get information about any of the bedding products shown in the experience and save the products they like. They can finally purchase the saved products in the store, online or email themselves a list to buy later.
“Creating an innovative customer experience is a top priority for Vera Bradley. Our partnership with Obsess VR is the first of many that will revolutionize and modernize in-store shopping. We’re delighted to bring this experiential high-tech platform to our consumer,” said Robert Wallstrom, CEO of Vera Bradley.
“Because of its immersive nature, Virtual Reality is a powerful medium for brands to engage shoppers with a product collection at a deeper emotional level. It can be used to create a virtual extension to a store without increasing physical real estate. Consumer expectations for the experience of online shopping are also increasing and the flat ecommerce grid isn’t sufficient any more,” said Neha Singh, Founder & CEO of Obsess, who has previously worked at Google and Vogue. “We are thrilled to partner with Vera Bradley to bring their beautiful new collection to life and let shoppers explore it contextually in a vibrant immersive experience across all channels.”
