Just over a year ago, two former UCLA athletes, Robbie Page and Steve O’Dell started Tenzo Tea with a mission to make the world a healthier place. While competing at UCLA, the partners learned first hand about the detrimental consequences of unhealthy energy. “Imagine your body as a car engine” says founder Steve O’Dell, “If you don’t put in the right type of fuel, the engine will die. The unfortunate part is, unlike a car engine, you cannot replace your body.”
July 1st marked the one year anniversary of Southern California’s favorite matcha company. What started as a small e-commerce website has bloomed into something much greener. Tenzo Matcha, one of the healthiest drink on the planet, now runs a promising webstore and has expanded to more than 50 locations from North Hollywood to Newport Beach.
After 6 months of e-commerce focus, the team switched to wholesale. In early 2017, Tenzo Matcha began to take off in Los Angeles and now serves thousands of cups per day through their wholesale accounts – mainly coffee and juice shops. “It’s a very exciting time for us right now” says Robbie, “Tenzo Tea has proven to pair perfectly with the healthy lifestylers of Southern California. In many cases, people are choosing Tenzo Matcha over coffee.”
Into the future, Tenzo would like to develop a suite of healthy matcha products, each and every one true to the Tenzo mission to make the world a healthier place.
