Houston / Fort Worth / San Antonio, TX – August 22, 2017 – Linbeck Group, a Texas-based, technology-driven building construction firm, announced that it received four awards in the ENR Texas & Louisiana’s 2017 Best Projects competition.
Linbeck received Best Project for the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center and Hamon Resource and Education Center in the Residential Hospitality category.
Located in Dallas, the state of the art facility is owned and operated by Presbyterian Communities and Services (PC&S) and named for business magnate and financier, T. Boone Pickens. It is the first campus of its kind and an unparalleled resource for families and medical professionals throughout the region.
Linbeck Group also won three ENR Awards of Merit for the Witte Museum in the Cultural / Worship Category; the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center in Interior / Tenant Improvement Category; and Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land in Sports / Entertainment.
The Witte, which was established in 1926 and dedicated to natural history, science and South Texas heritage, was a $31 million, 120,000 square feet expansion and renovation. The museum is located adjacent to Brackenridge Park in Midtown Brackenridge on the banks of the San Antonio River.
The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center is housed in what was originally built in the early 1900’s as a sugar-packaging warehouse in Sugar Land, Texas. The 12,000-square-foot project was constructed while preserving as much of the existing interior and exterior elements as possible.
Smart Financial Centre is an $84 million state-of-the-art performance hall built on 38 acres of land owned by the city of Sugar Land. One unique feature of the facility – movable auditorium walls that change seating capacity from 3,000 seats to 6,400 without sacrificing acoustical performance. The venue also features the latest sound, light and video technology to accommodate complex presentations prevalent in the entertainment industry.
“We are honored to be recognized by ENR, an authority on reporting news, data, rankings, analysis and commentary for the construction industry,” said David Stueckler, President and CEO, Linbeck Group. “These awards symbolize our ability to deliver superior construction projects across multiple markets and project types.”
ENR’s annual awards program is dedicated to honoring the best construction projects and the companies that designed and built them in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Independent juries of industry leaders in design and construction judged the project entries using five criteria, including safety, innovation and teamwork. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony later in the year and will be featured in the regional editions of ENR.
As a Best Project winner, the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center will automatically compete in the Best of the Best Projects 2017, a national juried competition appearing in ENR.
