If you are someone who enjoys a thrilling haunted house experience, then the name Brighton Asylum is probably familiar to you. Brighton Asylum is New Jersey’s largest indoor haunted house screampark, offering two world class haunted houses, four 2nd gen escape rooms, zombie laser tag, a horror museum of original screen-used movie props and costumes, and themed haunted house entertainment throughout the year.
Whether you have visited Brighton Asylum previously or you are someone who has yet to experience their innovative and scary effects, then brace yourself, as an adventure awaits you will never soon forget. Brighton Asylum was massively renovated in 2015, with another massive renovation carried out in 2016. For 2017, their new updates promise to set a new bar in immersive haunted house experiences.
“Each year, we aim to top ourselves in ways we never thought possible”, said Rich Gonci, owner and creative director of Brighton Asylum. “Our production crew spends all year conjuring up the ultimate scares and we spend countless hours bringing these nightmares to life”, he added.
Brighton Asylum has received numerous local and national media attention after being called ‘The Scariest Place on Earth’ by The Today Show, where Today Show anchor Tamron Hall was taken to the hospital after tearing a muscle in her throat from screaming. The New Jersey haunted house has also received positive reviews from sources such as Haunted Attraction Magazine, placing them as the “Top 4 Must See” haunted attractions in 2015, while Buzzfeed placed them among, “Top haunted attractions in the world”. They have also been featured on TLC’s TV show “Cake Boss”, and received a visit last season from actor and director James Franco.
More About Brighton Asylum
The Brighton Asylum has some folklore attached to it. It was formerly believed to house the mentally unstable and psychologically damaged individuals back in the 1940’s. “Legend has it, years of extremely harsh living conditions, grotesque medical experiments, staff disappearances, and screams spilling into the residential areas during the night, resulted in the state permanently closing the facility in 1952, pending a full investigation. However, no such results of an investigation can be found to date. In 2011, Brighton Asylum re-opened to the public as a haunted attraction”.
Brighton Asylum features four 2nd gen escape rooms. Visitors can choose between the two; 60-minute room experiences or two 5 minute experiences. The 5 minute experiences for haunted house guests was added because of the low capacity of 60-minute escape rooms.
Brighton Asylum has a tendency to sell out during Halloween season. Visitors are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance, guaranteeing entry and having an opportunity to enjoy every special package.
