New York, NY – Cities have always offered convenience to residents and tourists. A restaurant, museum, club, attraction, or venue has always been within walking distance or a short ride by transit. With the growth of cities into larger, metropolitan regions transit options have become more important than ever before. The fast paced environment of a city requires reliable and timely transportation. Apps like Uber have helped expand the transportation resources, while apps like When Transit help make current transit easier than ever to use. When Transit is a transit tracking app that can be used to accurately check a city’s transit options, times, and schedules. Using a GPS system to track the movement of trains and buses, When Transit can more accurately predict the arrival of transportation from one venue to the next. The app is rated the #1 transit apps in the Google Play and iOS stores. It has already been successfully rolled out to New York City and Chicago and is now making its debut in Toronto, Canada and Washington, DC.
“Our app already has a few hundred thousand downloads in New York City and the feedback from users has so far been extremely positive,” says When Transit’s Joel Neuman. “We are now launching in Toronto and DC and look forward to bringing the type of reliability to transportation planning there that we have already been able to provide in New York and Chicago.”
Users can download apps that were created specifically for their region and transportation type. From that point they will be able to check the running times of buses and trains from home, office, the street, or in a car. The GPS based system is the only one that can provide an accurate prediction for travel times, which is why so many users were quick to download When Transit in New York.
“It takes the guesswork out of traveling in the city,” says Neuman. “It can be used by residents or just tourists that are visiting. That’s the beauty of it. You may only need the app for a few days and then you can uninstall it from your phone. It’s for both residents and visitors.”
The company states that they are working on expanding the apps to other major metropolitan areas over the next several months. They believe that having this option will only encourage tourism as it removes some of the fear and anxiety that comes with traveling in large cities like New York that have millions of residents using transit.
