5 Sep, 2017 – Newport Beach, Orange County, California – Ms. America 2017 Oksana Vovk addressed the Mayor of her home City of Newport Beach, Mr. Kevin Muldoon and all Members of the City Council and spoke on her platform to fight autism during the City Council open session held at the Newport Beach City Hall.
“I previously met with Mayor Muldoon during my official visit to the City Hall to discuss Ms. America Pageant and my platform to fight autism and promote organic living”, Vovk said shortly after the City Council session. “During our initial meeting, the Mayor and I had a long discussion regarding Newport Beach residents with special needs and importance of improving their lifestyle and community services available to them. As a mother of a son with autism, I am aware of how much more needs to be done for those, who truly need our assistance and help”.
Vovk won Ms. America 2017 competition in September of last year with her two-fold platform to fight autism and promote organic living. She seeks to make a difference during her year as Ms. America by positively influencing her community and leaving a legacy of a woman, who never gives up and goes after her dreams.

“Addressing the City Council was very important to me,” Vovk continued. “I had a chance to deliver a very important message to all Members of the City Council, in whom our community placed a great deal of trust to serve everyone in Newport Beach, including individuals with special needs, who require extra time and attention. This year in America 1 in every 68 children will be diagnosed with autism, this is 1 in every 42 boys and 1 in every 189 girls. April is Autism Awareness Month in the United States, and I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Mayor Muldoon for the invitation and award of Proclamation, which I accepted as the highest honor and recognition of my efforts to fight autism and help every individual with special needs”, Vovk said after accepting the Proclamation.
