List of Common Cinnamon Products with High Lead Published by CCL after FDA Recall Due to Lead Poisoning in Applesauce

CCL has published an article and video about the FDA regarding health alert about the ground cinnamon products with high levels of lead contamination. CCL gives the List of Cinnamons with High Lead Content and details the FDA Cinnamon Recall for March 2024.

Cincinnati, OH, USA – March 18, 2024 – Coconut Country Living (CCL) has published an article and video with the list of cinnamons with high lead content and other facts concerning a recent public health alert regarding certain ground cinnamon products with high levels of lead.

This month the FDA requested a voluntary recall of the following cinnamon products:

– La Fiesta, lot 25033, sold at La Superior Super Mercados in California

– Marcum, best by Oct. 16, 2025 and April 6, 2025 BY SAV-A-LOT (five locations in Connecticut)

– MTCI, sold at SF Supermarket (only in California)

– Swad, lot KX21223, sold at Patel Brothers (one location in Norwalk)

– Supreme Tradition, best buy dates from April 2025 through September 2025 sold at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar throughout the USA

– El Chilar, F275EX1026 and D300EX1024, (sold at La Joya Morelense in Baltimore)

The article and video both give the details of the situation and expand on the even more troublesome recent recall of applesauce pouches containing lead laced cinnamon.

Michael DiSalvo, owner of Coconut Country Living, which sells its own spices and coconut products with a mission to “heal the world through tasty superfoods” had this to say:

“The FDA has made it clear that consumers should not eat, use, sell or serve any of the ground cinnamon products listed. What makes these recent episodes so troubling is that children had almost immediate reactions to the very high levels of lead in the case of the contaminated applesauce, and potentially hundreds were affected. We are pleased that the FDA launched an investigation to find out what brands were selling cinnamon high in lead; however, consumers need to find out how these cases are happening in the first place so they can make informed decisions rather than deal with consequences after the fact.”

In the article and video, CCL also references a new podcast with a new episode on the history of lead’s effect on human health that consumers may find helpful.

Customers are also reminded that they can find organic, true cinnamon that is not only sourced fair trade and tested for purity, but also the only one with CinnaTrueTM testing so they know they are getting cinnamon with ultra low coumarin content so they can maximize its health benefits at store.coconutcountryliving.com or at Amazon.com/CoconutCountryLiving.

Consumers are encouraged to get the latest updates on recalls at FDA.gov or CCL’s own updates on the FDA Cinnamon Recall for March 2024.
