Rainbow Fashion Week™ will be giving the FIT students and faculty a sneak peak of next years attraction set to hit summer June 15-22, 2018. A new celebration of diversity and inclusivity has come to redefine global fashion circles in the last few years. Rainbow Fashion Week, takes pride in its many unique dimensions, such as being world’s first carbon-neutral, showcasing survivors of double mastectomies, and presenting a female-to-male trans-boy doing the catwalk.
The 8-day celebration encompasses Queer Fashion, Film, Art and Technology will host 10 shows, and the countdown has begun for everyone to create, express, voice and lend support to a peaceful world under the rainbow. The show welcomes LGBTQ+ supporters, fashion elite attendees, bloggers, buyers, celebrities, top-tier fashion editors, photographers, VIPs and tastemakers, along with anyone who wants to join and participate in the most happening LGBTQ+ fashion event of the world.
FIT will witness first hand the brainchild of Designer and Founder E. Jaguar Beckford in a Rainbow Fashion Week take-over. Faces and Places in Fashion will for the first time have a sold out audience including designers, photographers, models, merchants, and retail buyers.
“We are a very unique Fashion Brand Servicing the LGBTQ+ Community. Currently, there are no other fixed events presenting the LGBT community in any of the major fashion capitals such as ours; we present the “art of Hair, Make-Up, Styling, Design as well as production in a way that no other fashion week does. Our diverse crowds enjoy artistic, innovative runway events as well as fun filled nightlife toasting to the City in after parties that tie into the day’s events,” said a spokesperson from the Infamous Fashion Institute of Technology, the event organizer.
Described by New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, as the Official New York City Pride Fashion Event, Rainbow Fashion Week is not merely an extravaganza, but a place that is deeply conscious, lending its voice and addressing a host of global issues that affect the LGBTW community and beyond in the form of anti-bulling, anti-domestic violence, body positivity, trans justice, immigration justice, teen homelessness, trafficking, environmental awareness, etc. “What better way to service our community beyond the catwalk, then to petition the City to compost dog waste. It’s good for our tree beds and brings awareness through our Rainbow Pets Fashion event, recently sponsored by Pottery Bar’s West Elm,” says the founder.
“RFW has created safe and creative spaces for our entire LGBTQ+ community. Each event delivers a social responsibility message and creates awareness, supporting not only the business of queer style, but also the values that go with it,” said the spokesperson for the event.
Apart from sponsors and promoters, Rainbow Fashion Week 2018 welcomes all attendees and participants to contribute in the form of time, presence, sponsorship, social media buzz, production assistance, photography and videos, hair, make-up and other ways to lend a helping hand.
“Every participation we obtain not only benefits us as a community but also enables us to deliver great social marketing campaigns directly to our audience. There is nothing too small you can offer. These are “Not Your Average Fashion Shows” focusing on the art of fashion, film, art and technology. We are one nation under the rainbow,” and #whoarewetosayno said the event spokesperson.
