Inspiring stories couldn’t be brighter and more dazzling than that of Crystal Hadnott, the celebrated marathon runner adorned with strands of pearls and red lipstick. Her story is now told in full color in her recently released memoir, “The Finish Line was Just the Start – A Marathon Runner’s Memoir of Relentlessness, Resilience & Renewal”.
In 2004, Crystal Hadnott‘s life was to take a complete turn after she met with an accident. Like a born winner, she faced the hardships bravely. More tragedies stuck her when she was diagnosed with Graves’s Disease and went into depression. In 2016, she was bereaving her mother’s demise and had also lost her child. As she suffered and business went down, everyone thought her career was over.
The diehard sportswoman in Crystal saw adversities as challenges that were meant to be overcome. She put on her boots and today the world looks in awe and admires her grit and determination. Crystal has completed over 100 full and half marathons since October 2006 as well as several 202-mile relay races. She has recently been named as the official ambassador to the Chevron Houston Marathon in her hometown.
“The Finish Line was Just the Start” is candid, breathtaking in its details, and takes the reader through the most remarkable story of this century. It is also a journey into the heart and soul of an athlete who willed herself to perform at the highest levels of competition in her physical, mental and spiritual life. The Foreword for the book has been penned by Bills Collins, World Championship Record Holder and USA Masters Hall of Fame along with Gail Devers, World Champion, Olympic gold medalist as well as the National Hall of Fame for Track & Field.
“We may not all be marathoners, but we are all running this race called life,” says Crystal.
As an entrepreneur, Crystal has also founded Synergy Total Holistic Health & Wellness, a boutique fitness and nutrition company in Houston, and “Pavement Princess”, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization designed to combat childhood obesity geared to young girls between the ages of 7-13 years old. She is also a sought after speaker and media personality. For her ardent fans, Crystal maintains a blog, ‘Running Pretty’, a running journal by the same name, and has authored her first running handbook, ‘Behind the Pretty’ meant for beginners as well as professionals.
