It’s no secret that couriers are flat out leading up to Christmas. What is it exactly that makes everything so busy in the final weeks of the year? Matthew Roberts from Freight Quote explained his view. “If you thought that all those extra bulky parcels are people sending presents to one another, then you might need to think again” he said. “For sure, more people pack and send things around the country and also internationally leading up to Christmas, and yes, a good portion of those deliveries will be gifts for family and friends. But commercial ‘business to business’ deliveries are also a huge contributor to the hustle and bustle of Christmas.” Roberts continued to explain: “Shops filling up their shelves for the final in-store rush, and businesses scrambling to get their orders out before their customers close for the break; these factors combined are the main reason for the increase in the movement of freight on our roads.”
Freight Quote will close for the Christmas break, and customers requiring goods to be transported in the weeks leading up to Christmas are advised not to delay with finalising this. Deliveries within the same metros can be arranged up until the 20th of December, and customers requiring goods to be delivered interstate or in regional areas are recommended to finalise their bookings no later than Thursday the 14th of December, and earlier if possible.
