“Reviewed By Ruffina Oserio for Readers’ Favorite
Set in the near distant future, The Last Savior by Jalleh Doty and Pari Adli plunges the reader into a world where bigotry reigns alongside incredible advancements in technology. It’s an age where children are born with superior intelligence, and many of them possess psychic and telekinetic powers. The world is on the edge of destruction from World War 3 and while it helplessly teeters towards religious decadence, an extraordinary event happens. A young Syrian girl, Ilham, becomes pregnant in unusual circumstances and a message from an angel indicates that she will give birth to the Last Savior. So the Last Savior is born, frail and in need like any human, but as he grows in wisdom, he faces great challenges, witnessing the hatred of men and the evil that rules in their hearts. Can there still be a place for a savior in this world and can this child embrace his mission without being sullied by the extremist tendencies of the world and its intolerance?
This is not my typical genre choice of book, but I found it to be interesting and relevant, a strong warning of what the world could become if humanity doesn’t take quick steps to combat bigotry. The setting is interesting and I found the idea of a new savior quirky enough. Readers will find strong allusions to the biblical story of Jesus of Nazareth, and the resistance that humankind poses when it comes to meaningful change comes across through this narrative. The Last Savior is well-written and it is a powerful book because of its setting and the message. The plot is also interesting, the conflict strong, and the characters real. Jalleh Doty and Pari Adli deliver a strong warning to contemporary society of the need for a new consciousness, a book with a revolutionary message.”
