Hyundai Solar Energy Co., Ltd. was awarded the 2017 Global Power Brand Award (GPBA) and the award of “Sang-jin Shin, the Chairman of Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee at the National Assembly“.
Hyundai Solar Energy is a solar power plant construction company that has entered the African market. After signing the contract for the construction of a large-scale solar power plant in Africa’s Guinea, where currently lacks power, the construction is scheduled to begin next year. It was the result of succeeding in signing a MOU with Guinea for the 200-megawatt new renewable energy business in May last year, and that of obtaining a business license and bidding process of the Guinean government-led projects in last September. Hyundai Solar Energy Co., Ltd. (EPC), which has been selected as an EPC (Design, Procurement, Construction) company for this project, is planning to construct a solar power plant with a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) in Kakara, mountainous territory of Guinea.
Hyundai Solar Energy is also expanding into Southeast Asian markets such as the Philippines and Bangladesh. In recent years, it has concluded an MOU with a 30 MW PV plant in Cambodia. Ki-hoon Yeom, the CEO of the company said, “We will build more efficient solar power plants in the upcoming future, and we will make a company that both the community and the employees share the profits. Especially, in Africa, we plan to construct various kinds of infrastructure such as water facilities as well as photovoltaic projects, and practice the spirit of sharing.”.
