Major UK School Contracts signed during the UK-China People to People Dialogue event

High profile government-led People to People dialogue event leads to the signing of two major educational deals to signal successful partnerships to usher in a golden era of UK-China relations.

The fifth annual UK-China High-Level People to People Dialogue (P2P), was held in the UK from 4 to 7 December 2017. It was the most senior UK-China dialogue held in the UK this year. The People to People dialogue aims to enhance our partnership with China by promoting collaboration on issues that are important to people in both our countries, including health, education and culture.

December 7th 2017 will go down in history as one of the most significant days of the year for the people of the United Kingdom and China when we consider the impact that education has on the lives of their people. Against the backdrop of the P2P event were deals signed by two of the giants of the educational market, signalling the start of a golden era of relations between the two nations.

Education is said to be the best legacy any government or parent can leave for generations to come. This underlines the significance of the new steps taken by the governments of China and the United Kingdom. The contracts bring many advantages to the two nations and their people, helping to enhance their educational systems as well as strengthening the relations between the nations.

Westminster School signed its contract with HKMETG. In addition to this agreement, St Bees School, another of the UK’s most venerable schools, signed a contract with the Full Circle Education Group, a pioneering private education provider in China.

The contract between Full Circle Education Group and St. Bees School not only signifies the revival of a school with 434-years of history, but also provides a unique opportunity for the creation of a new approach that integrates the best educational elements of East and West. The establishment of Fusion schools in the UK and China offers the same pioneering Fusion curriculum to schools in both China and the UK, delivered through the Twin-campus concept.

The signing of the contract was witnessed by major stakeholders in the educational sector and official government representatives from both countries. Dignitaries present at the contract signing included Rt Hon Nick Gibb, MP, Minister of State for School Standards and Minister for Equalities, Antonia Romeo, Permanent Secretary of Department for International Trade, Trudy Harrison, MP for Copeland, as well as more than 100 distinguished guests from the UK and China.

St. Bees School was founded in 1583 by Edmund Grindal, Archbishop of Canterbury. The school enjoys an excellent reputation for its high quality education and outstanding facilities. However, financial difficulties have limited the school’s expansion and growth, requiring it to reinvent itself with a new, future-oriented vision.

The reputation of the school has drawn interest from investors all over the world, with Full Circle Education Group chosen by the St. Bees School Trustees as a partner for the expansion and growth of the institution. This is so as the educational values of both institutions are most closely aligned.

The investment from Full Circle is not purely a financial one, as Full Circle will also be providing professional assistance to the partnership. The coming together of both institutions is with a shared vision and determination to establish a new generation of schools that integrate the best of Eastern and Western educational elements.
