Los Angeles, CA – February 22, 2018 –

‘THE BOLSHOI’ – the must watch, feel-good ballet film.

“If you are in need of a feel-good ballet movie night, check this out: Bolshoi, a 2017 Russian coming-of-age drama starring real dancers and filmed on location at the Bolshoi Theater,” opened Pointe Magazine’s Amy Brandt, announcing TriCoast Entertainment’s extended VOD platform run for Valery Todorovsky’s (‘Hipsters’, ‘Ottepel’, TV series ‘The Thaw’) Russian ballet film, ‘THE BOLSHOI’.

From Valery Todorovsky Production Company and Marmot Film Studio, ‘THE BOLSHOI’ follows a young, talented ballerina, Yulia Olshanskaya (Margarita Simonova), as her passion for dance, hard work, and drive takes her on a rollercoaster of a journey through the prestigious Bolshoi Academy to their company, fulfilling her lifelong dream of performing on the competitive stage of Russia’s renowned Bolshoi Theatre.

Highlighting the film’s cast of real dancers, Brandt referred to Margarita Simonova, a Polish National Ballet coryphée, Ekaterinberg Ballet principal, Andrei Sorokin, and former Paris Opéra Ballet étoile, Nicholas LeRiche.

‘THE BOLSHOI’ is a film not only about working hard to achieve lifelong dreams, but also the obstacles of career paths, conflicting friendships, and giving second chances. Exemplified through Yulia’s clash with her best friend, Karina, by former Kremlin Ballet dancer, Anna Isaeva (Swan Lake, Arabian Nights) when they compete to land the lead role of ‘Aurora’ for the school’s graduation performance.

Emphasizing the friendship turned rivalry of Yulia and Karina, Brandt wrote, “Flashbacks to Yulia’s childhood flesh out her defiant nature, and help make her ultimate sacrifice towards the end especially touching”.

Alongside dancers, ‘THE BOLSHOI’ has a cast featuring often award-winning Russian stars including Yulia’s strict but influential mentor, Alisa Freyndlikh, Aleksandr Domogarov (musical: Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), and Valentina Telishkina

“[‘THE BOLSHOI’] is fun, beautifully shot and full of gorgeous dancing (including a mean fouétte turn contest),” noted Brandt.

By popular demand, TriCoast Entertainment has extended the VOD platform for charming, captivating, and graceful Russian ballet film, ‘THE BOLSHOI’. Join Yulia on her journey to the top ranks of Russia’s renowned Bolshoi Theatre, available to watch instantly now – iTunes, Vimeo On Demand, Fandango, Vudu, FlixFling, Hoopla, In Demand, GooglePlay, DISH, Sony Playstation, Direct TV, and Microsoft Xbox.
