November, 2017 – Verizon partnered with Cisco to offer its software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) platform to its wholesale customers. The Verizon SD-WAN is powered by Cisco Meraki, and designed to allow wholesale customers more control over internal network operations and costs. The move adds SD-WAN services to the Virtual Network Services portfolio of its Verizon Partner Solution (VPS) division. June, 2017 – Service provider CenturyLink is now offering three managed hybrid software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) bundles to give customers more connectivity options. These SD-WAN bundles are based on the previously announced managed SD-WAN offering provided by Versa.
November, 2017– VMware announced plans to acquire VeloCloud, one of the leading companies in the fast-growing software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) market.
