Twisted Wires by Sarina Wheatman is a detailed guide to the mindset of someone who battles any addiction. Explore the twisted internal dialogue and distorted thinking that someone with an addiction faces during their battle, and after they have been treated. The book also discusses the 12 step program in depth, and the differences between treatment in a clinic and a support group. You will also learn the facts that support the reasoning behind why an addiction is an illness and causes the person to make self-destructive choices. The author offers well researched and constructive guidance not only to the addict, but also to their families and friends. This book will open your eyes to the reality of addiction and your heart to the addict.

Twisted Wires by Sarina Wheatman has been so well researched that the author clearly knows her subject very well. I found the entire guide thought-provoking and educational. I related well to the common view of addicts, but by the time I finished reading this book, my opinion had completely changed. The explanation of the twisted thought patterns and genetic makeup of a person suffering from this illness was clear and concise. There were so many ‘aha’ moments throughout this book, I cannot list them all, but one that stands out is the way a person in denial actually rationalizes their actions, knowing what the consequences could be. I hope this guide is available to every doctor, support group, and clinic. If it is not, it should be because it would help so many addicts and their families understand that addiction does not go away when you cease using the substance.”
