Brooklyn, NY – April 25, 2018 – It’s 2018. Isn’t it time for a better bandage? Invented by a father for his three-year-old daughter who found traditional kid’s bandages as disappointing as the booboos themselves, Hug-a-BooBoo truly is a better bandage – the first real innovation in over-the-counter bandages in years.
What Makes Hug-a-BooBoo Bandages Better?
Hug-a-BooBoos are fun, but more importantly, they are the first bandage ever to send a comforting and reassuring message – even before they are applied. This feature makes them invaluable, especially during those often challenging “new booboo” moments. The adorable animal characters on Hug-a-BooBoo bandages all have outstretched arms, just waiting to give an encouraging and comforting “hug.” Rob Treglia, Founder of MIO Bandages, LLC, collaborated with the design team at G&R Creative Solutions of Brooklyn, NY to invent Hug-a-BooBoo bandages. “We asked ourselves, ‘What do kids need most when they’re hurt and upset after getting a booboo?’ The answer was clear: They need a hug!”
The unique shape and friendly open-armed characters on each Hug-a-BooBoo bandage will bring a smile to even the saddest face, but Hug-a-BooBoos are more than just a cute picture. They also feature extra protection for tender wound areas. Their patent-pending “peripheral wound area protection” (PWAP) comes in the form of small amounts of extra padding in the arms of the characters, cushioning outer wound areas which are often just as sensitive as the wounds themselves. This new feature makes the bandage more comfortable, protective, and less likely to be removed.
Treglia and his team didn’t stop there. “The padding on Hug-a-BooBoo bandages is also a whopping 18% thicker than the average kid’s bandage. Altogether, that makes for one perfect hug!” In test groups, which included teachers, doctors, nurses, parents, and kids, Hug-a-BooBoo bandages were a huge hit. Madi King, RN, a registered nurse and mom, was blown away by the new presentation and innovations. “Omg! I love them! They are adorable! And the peripheral wound padding feature is genius!” Elaine Ronner, a mom and second grade teacher who is no stranger to the value of a great kid’s bandage, agreed. “I just love this idea. As a teacher, I know that a bandage fixes everything from a headache to a foot hurting. I keep a box on my desk at work and the kids use them literally every day. These take the comforting power of bandages to a whole new level!”
As the slogan on the box accurately summarizes, this new wound care innovation is more than just another fun kid’s bandage. Hug-a-BooBoos truly are “a bunch of hugs in every box!”
