JACKSONVILLE, Fl – When Denny Dore was a young child, he would often run through parking lots and playgrounds to catch wrappers that were blowing away in the wind. He was always taught to take care of the planet, as well as the people and animals on it. During his school years, he watched his single mom run from place to place with his sister and him. Trying to keep them well fed she would pack her purse with snacks that usually ended up crushed and forgotten.
These things became the inspiration for his startup company, Cup Buddy. “Eight months ago, I suffered a big setback and I was left confused and directionless. So, I went back to the drawing board and started coming up with ideas. This one just popped into my head. I knew we could create a simpler way to snack, without wasting plastic and making a mess,” said Dore.
Cup Buddy allows you to hold up to three separate snacks and a spread, all in one container. It’s reusable, dishwasher-safe, and best of all, it fits anywhere. It has been designed to make snacking on the go much more convenient, so it can easily fit in a cup holder, purse or backpack without ever spilling inside.
Cup Buddy is planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign with a funding goal of $40,000. “We really feel like this product can make snack time a lot simpler and a lot less wasteful,” Denny Dore commented, “Funding isn’t easy so we’re going to the people and asking them for help to bring Cup Buddy to life.”
They have also announced the “Cup Buddy One for One Promise”, which states that for every product sold they will be donating a meal to a child in need. Dore, who is a Muscogee Native American has said that they will be looking to partner with reservations to extend this outreach after their funding is met.
Denny hopes that Cup Buddy can inspire other young Natives to create opportunities for themselves in the world of business. “Not everyone has opportunities handed to them, sometimes you have to think outside the box and go a different direction than other people. But the opportunities out there are endless if you allow yourself to be creative.” shared Dore.
Cup Buddy’s campaign will go live on May 22nd, 2018. To be notified when it launches and stay up to date visit cupbuddyco.com.
