Where is Opie? by Steve and Dannie Maiolo is the first of four delightful books packaged together based on one continuing story. The four books, series of the Little Red Barn Books, are beautifully illustrated by Mickey Eves. The series is comprised of Where is Opie?  Joey’s Jump for Opie, Where is That Silly Goat? And Opie Being Opie. Joey, a young farmhand, goes in search of a little goat named Opie who has disappeared. His barnyard friends, Licorice, a little black pony, Crackerjack, a big brown horse, Lou-Lou, a happy pink pig and Dundee, the farmyard dog accompany him to help find Opie. The descriptions of the barnyard animals are both humorous and appealing and kids will surely love them. The search for Opie is also filled with adventure and will capture the attention of any wondering young mind.

Where is Opie? by Steve and Dannie Maiolo is fun to read and is an ideal bedtime story for children. Both parents and their children will enjoy reading this wholesome barnyard story with its enchanting and descriptive illustrations. The hues chosen by artist Mickey Eves are eye catching with colors that pop. There is a message for kids entwined in the story. Working as a team, having a positive attitude, never giving up when stumbling blocks fall your way, having courage and not being afraid are some of the excellent themes embodied in the story. The four books taken as a whole would bolster and encourage such positive qualities in children.”
