This scheme ensures that there are no financial barriers between a child and higher education. Furthermore, it is believed that with this aid, expensive courses like B. Tech. can be made well within reach of an average Indian household. There is also a provision for students who have already begun their college education to upgrade their education standards. Through Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET), students can secure direct admissions to the 3rd semester of 4 year B. Tech. programmes & Diploma programmes.
The Special Scholarship for Jammu students has been named after Captain Tushar Mahajan, with a cap of 51 seats. For Kashmiri students, the seats are also limited to 51, bumping the total to a 102 seats. “The objective behind limiting the seats is straightforward. We want to ensure that quality is not compromised for quantity. We offer world-class education, amenities and exposure. Consistency is crucial in the long run.”, said the Director of TERII, Sagar Gulati. TERII is an approved college by AICTE, MHRD, GOI & Govt. of Haryana and accredited by IAO, USA. It also functions as the Remote Centre of IIT Bombay, SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter of IIT Madras and Virtual Lab Nodal Centre of IIT Delhi. TERII has also been awarded for Best Teaching Practices by Career Option Magazine, along with bagging several other accolades in its run so far.
The alumni of TERII have established themselves by obtaining campus placements in Multinational Corporations, nationally and globally. Some of their top recruiters included Amazon, IBM, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Nepa Ltd. (A Govt. of India undertaking PSU), Essae (Japan-based, the world’s largest e-weighing machine manufacturer), Permionics Membrane Pvt. Ltd. (India’s only membrane manufacturing plant in Gujarat), ITW India Ltd. (Asia’s largest packaging solution organization). To add to their achievements, it is worthwhile to mention that several core companies regularly recruit students from core branches. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that there are over 3,000 success stories of TERII students, serving as remarkable professionals.
The Advisor at TERII, Dr. Mohendra Pal Gupta commented, “The faculty-hiring process is extremely rigorous. There are several rounds to clear before the actual recruitment. We go by the simple principle that, what and how something is taught in class, is reflected in the students’ performance in campus placements. So far, we are proud of our fraternity selection and students’ results.” Most professors presently teaching are former IITs, NITs, BHU & other Government Funded Technical Institutes’ faculty. He further added, “At TERII, students are taught to work on their attitude, in addition to their technical skills. There is a strong emphasis on all-round development.”
There are over 200 members from Jammu & Kashmir who are already a part of the TERII family. This vibrant community consists of students, professors and staff members. One could conclude that TERII would indeed be a second home to students coming in from Jammu & Kashmir.
