Is Pakistan a Safe Travel Destination? These Two Families with Children Think So

June 25, 2018 – Pakistan is usually not the first place that comes to mind for most family travel destinations, in fact it is not an option at all. There are a lot of old ideas about Pakistan and two families are now on a mission to remove such misconceptions in order to reveal the beauty and culture of this history and landscape rich country. Pakistan in recent years has become a hot tourist destination for the more adventurous solo back packer types, but now it is attracting adventurous families.

The Long family, comprising James and Alyson and their two sons, and the Jones family, with Ronnie, Amy and their two sons, carry extensive experience in traveling around the world, especially trekking in arduous terrains.

Pakistan is a vibrant place, with cultures and surroundings changing every ten kilometers. It has recently been ranked as the world’s top travel destination for 2018 by the British Backpacker Society, which described Pakistan as “one of the friendliest countries on earth, with mountain scenery that is beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.”

The Long and Jones Families are embarking on a trip to Pakistan next year to show its safe and attractive destinations. Most notable among them, the 2nd tallest mountain in the world, K2. They are planning a 3 week trek the K2 base camp – with kids.

The Long family comprises Alyson, a Welsh and James, who is Australian. They have been avid travelers for the last five years, and glimpses of these can be caught on Alyson’s travel blog, worldtravelfamily.com. The World Travel Family blog is one of the biggest travel blogs in the world, with more than 150,000 monthly page views and focuses more on adventurous travel. Here you will be able read all about the trek to K2 as well as their traveling adventures in 50 other countries.

I’ve never felt unsafe in any of the 50+ countries we’ve visited so far, from Egypt to El Salvador. I’ve known and worked with many people from Pakistan over the years, and they have been warm and friendly,” says Alyson Long. “In fact, the more off the beaten track, generally, the more welcoming the people.”

The Jones family with Ronnie, Amy and two sons sold their home and cars to travel the world ten months ago. Their most recent adventure was the 3 week, 81 mile trek to Everest Base Camp as a family. The Jones family has also recently been interviewed on television for their EBC trip. This journey as well as their proposed visit to Pakistan’s trekking paradise of K2 can be seen on their YouTube channel: YouTube.com/wherethejones.

I never even thought of traveling to Pakistan, till a subscriber to my YouTube channel reached out to me. I had always just assumed it was a no-go area for me and especially for family travel,” says Ronnie Jones. “It was only after I started looking deeper into it and talking with other travelers that had actually been there did I realize just how off my perception had been.”

The Long and Jones families invite all sponsorship interests, including company sponsorships, for their proposed trip to trek to the basecamp of K2.
