Young DFW engineer hosting fundraiser as birthday present to support child immigrant representation

Dallas, Fort Worth-based young engineer Sarah Call has organized a fundraiser on her birthday where she is requesting people to donate to a non-profit organization which is working towards child immigrant representation.

Washington, DC – June 27, 2018 – What could a young engineer ask for her birthday present? Most possibly a designer dress or a lovely perfume or maybe a trip to Bali? But there are some generous young souls who are sensible enough to think beyond their own pleasures and would rather prefer a birthday gift that can be utilized for a greater good- say for the betterment of the community.

One such good Samaritan is Dallas-Fort Worth-based young engineer Sarah Call. Ms. Call is a lovely positive lady who believes in meaningful contributions to the betterment of humanity. Her birthday was on June 22, 2018 and she has launched a fundraiser for her birthday where she is requesting people to donate to KIND, instead of sending her personal gifts.

KIND (a US 501c3 backup up on Guidestar) is dedicated to protect children who enter the US immigration system alone and strives to assure best possible representation for these kids. The organization is aimed to achieve fundamental fairness through high-quality legal representation and by advancing the child’s best interests, safety and well-being.

Sarah has created a Facebook page for her birthday fundraiser called- “Sarah’s Birthday Fundraiser for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)”. The fundraising campaign is geared to raise around $1,000 by the next 4 weeks. The campaign has been able to raise $220 in just a day and the response from donators is pretty positive.

“For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). I’ve chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal”, stated Sarah while announcing about her birthday fundraiser on “Sarah’s Birthday Fundraiser for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)”.

The insensible “zero tolerance” policy declared by President Trump has devastated the lives of thousands of child immigrants and their families. According to reports from the Department of Homeland Security, the policy has led to the fateful separation of around 2,000 children from their parents at the border from April to May. These children who enter the US immigration system alone are tried at the immigration court and the entire process becomes extremely overwhelming for the little ones. Moreover, they don’t receive proper representation always which hurls the entire case against them, leading them to harrowing nightmares at such a tender age.

The incident of separated child immigrants at the US border have shook the country. A lot of people are concerned about it but most of us are limited to heated discussions when it comes to taking a pro-active stand about the protection of these innocent kids.

But, kudos to Ms. Call for having the courage to do something really meaningful towards ensuring a positive life for these little kids. We need more people like her to inspire us to actively come forward and do something real for the betterment of the community, leaving our petty personal pleasures behind.
