The 2018 Newark International Film Festival has selected a combination of five projects from filmmaker Nancy Vazquez and actor/producer Lovari.
The three-day event, held in Newark, NJ on September 7th, 8th, and 9th, includes screenings, Q&A panels, and workshops at a number of institutions. The main feature of this year’s festival is Women In Action, a panel consisting of stunt actors from the blockbuster film “Black Panther”.
Tyler Perry’s “House Of Payne” star Lance Gross will serve as this year’s Celebrity Ambassador.

Six women producers are involved in Nancy Vazquez’s directed feature film M.O.T.H. (“Matters Of The Heart”), a psychological thriller about a woman’s journey in the foster care system, which is an official selection in the festival, in addition to her other directed projects, including the comedy “Dating Games” (Official Short Selection) and “Wake Up” (Official Screenplay Selection), both co-produced with singer and actor Lovari. The Music Video Official Selection category includes two projects from Lovari (“Paparazzi” and “Love”). These five projects were all filmed in or around the Newark NJ area.
This is the third year for the festival, founded by Kenneth Gifford, who in 2014 was tapped to be the Director of the Newark Office of Film & Television.
