Dallas, Texas – Acclaimed author, motivational speaker, philanthropist, radio/TV host and real estate mogul, Angelia Scott-Dunbar is on a mission is to help others who have experienced life changing, life altering and traumatic experiences. Having herself survived domestic abuse, breast cancer and a great many other hardships, Dunbar has dedicated herself to helping people take full responsibility for their lives and reach their highest potential.
“In spite of all I’ve been through, I don’t see myself as a victim,” says Dunbar. “I’m a survivor. I choose to live with joy, hope and confidence, and I have a lot to say to people like myself who’ve survived their own challenges.”
Dunbar’s acclaimed biography, Slaying With My Broken Pieces, tells the inspirational story of how the author survived being battered, temporarily blinded and held captive by her abusive husband. As a single mother, Dunbar worked hard to keep herself out of the welfare system, but was forced out of her position as partner of a successful real estate company. At the same time as trying to start over, Dunbar also had to face up to going through a divorce and a devastating cancer diagnosis.
With incredible strength, intelligence and integrity, Dunbar picked up her ‘broken pieces,’ and built a company that brokers multi-million dollar real estate deals. But success aside, this remarkable business woman is firmly focused on her commitment to share her story of resilience with others.
As part of this commitment, Dunbar is hosting the 2018 Survivor’s Ball, Saturday, October 27th, 2018. With open nominations taking place from Sunday, July 1st, 2018, to Sunday, September 16, 2018, the general public and organizations are being asked to send in nominations of individuals whose stories and accomplishments warrant the recognition as a “Survivor”. There are a number of categories for the Survivor’s Ball, including Cancer Survivor, Domestic Violence Survivor, HIV Survivor, and many more.
With the understanding that life’s mission is always more than just ourselves, Dunbar has just two mantras in life: to care and to love: “We’re not on this journey alone,” she says.
