Los Angeles, CA – September 7, 2018 – Distributed in the U.S. by A24, THE LAST MOVIE STAR (aka Dog Years) is a tribute to Rifkin’s childhood hero, Burt Reynolds (as ‘Vic Edwards’), who delivers a tour de force performance, riding an emotional journey to accept his future while revisiting his past.
TriCoast Worldwide is honored to represent international rights to Writer-Director Adam Rifkin’s (Detroit Rock City) cross-generational indie, THE LAST MOVIE STAR, featuring the legendary ‘70s Hollywood icon, Burt Reynolds, who passed today at the age of 82 due to cardiac arrest.
“Reynolds delivers an ornery, multi-layered and deeply affecting performance,” remarked Rolling Stone.
THE LAST MOVIE STAR follows Vic Edwards, an 80-year-old man who struggles to accept his fade-out of Hollywood’s spotlight as a previous star actor. Unemployed, estranged from his ex-wives and with no living children, Vic embodies just how lonely old age can be. But, with a reversal of fate and convincing from Sonny (Chevy Chase), Vic accepts the invitation for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Nashville Film Festival, in hopes for a second chance at fame and glory. Alongside Lil (Ariel Winter), the cynical and Goth-styled personal assistant, Vic’s expectations fall further from short when he discovers that the film festival is a low budget operation that takes place in a bar’s back room, run by fan boys, Doug McDougal (Clark Duke) and Shane McAvoy (Ellar Coltrane).
After a turn of disastrous events and a three-hour drive to Knoxville full of constant bickering, THE LAST MOVIE STAR illuminates raw sincerity and poignancy, sharing the universal story about growing old and reminding us that it is never too late for companionship.

Reynolds then reached worldwide fame with roles in Saturday Night Fever (1977), Smokey and the Bandit (1997), and received a Golden Globe award and an Oscar-nominee for ‘Best Supporting Role’ in Boogie Nights (1997) as ‘Jack Turner’.
