Morgan James Publishing announces the upcoming publication of Nigerian Author, Kachi Ugo’s debut Young Adult Fantasy novel titled Mewranters: Attack of the Sea Monster set to be published in North America in the winter. The book, which is being distributed by IPS, will be available wherever books are sold in the United States and Canada and online for the rest of the world when the book releases in early February.
Kachi Ugo is a pharmacist living in Africa. His whole life has revolved around writing. When he was twelve, while his friends still flipped through picture books and comics, he took an interest into thick, picture-less “story books” that opened him up to a whole new world of possibilities and adventures. A decade later, he writes those same books himself. Kachi Ugo is an avid supporter of YA Fantasy. For him, writing is a passion. He relishes the power it gives him to create worlds of his own, where anything and everything is possible.
It is this same drive that propelled him to write his new novel and seek to have it published to YA Fantasy fans in North America and around the world. Readers’ Favorite has compared Kachi Ugo’s main character, Perry Johnson to Percy Jackson of Rick Riordan’s hit series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, saying that “like Percy Jackson, Perry Johnson will surely be the next hype.”
Mewranters: Attack of the Sea Monster is currently listed on Netgalley here: http://netgal.ly/xXqecM, and it is available for advanced readers and media professionals to read and review before its public release date. The novel is also available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, Powells, and every online retailer.
Readers’ Favorite recently announced the review of the Young Adult – Fantasy – Urban book “Mewranters” by Kachi Ugo. The glowing five star review by Jamie Michele reads thus:
Reviewed by Jamie Michele for Readers’ Favorite
Kachi Ugo’s Mewranters: Attack of the Sea Monster follows Perry Johnson, a twelve year old boy who, like the rest of his family, is a Mewranter:
‘Mews have existed since the dawn of time… We are like a force for good, preventing evil from growing rampant in the world.’
Perry only knew that his family was special, but just how special they were was the chock of a lifetime. His first test is to learn his aerial form and, morphing into a giant golden eagle that brings with it an immediate danger to himself, his parents, his clan, and coincidentally, also to a rousing monster who Perry alone is meant to face off against.
It took no longer than the first page of Kachi Ugo’s debut novel to become hooked into Perry Johnson’s world in Mewranters: Attack of the Sea Monster. The buildup and climax were as worthy of a read as all great fiction, but I loved the premise of an “average Perry” having (quite literally) the weight of the world on his shoulders and reading along as he (again, literally) rises to the occasion. As a mother I found the theme particularly stirring and relatable, a feeling that was heightened as I saw my own teen daughter become happily invested in Perry’s plight. Ugo has wrapped up a tale into spellbinding world that drives the plot through land, air, and sea, breathing life into the unknown and laying the foundation for what a parent and her child would hope to be the start of an excellent series.”
