Ram Jack has been the leader in foundation repair since our doors have been open and we are very passionate about what we do. However, we want our customers to share the excitement of foundation repair as much as us. The type of foundation you have usually depends on your geographic location as well as the age and style of your home and each form of foundation is designed to offer sound structural support. Depending on which one of these foundation your home has, you may be facing some specific advantages and disadvantages. Our foundation repair specialists know how to handle all types of foundations and are ready to assist you.
There are three common forms of foundations and we want our customers to know about them so they can ask the right questions when meeting with our foundation experts.
Crawlspace – Normally about three or four feet deep, they contain pillars that are supporting your home. These foundations are usually found in northern regions where frost tends to be deeper. Crawlspaces are good for protecting against flooding and keeping your home cooler during summer.
Basement – Basements are a more advanced form of a crawlspace. The are made up of concrete perimeters and have pillars to support them. They are usually installed further north where there are issues relating to freezing and thawing.
Slab on grade – A foundation that is composed of poured concrete sections that range from four to six inches thick with a perimeter footing. Slabs are a good option for southern regions where the frost lines are shallow. A very common foundation for home because it’s fairly quick and affordable.
With over four decades of foundation repair experience, we know how stressful this process can be. Which is why we want to educate our customers on the foundation basics so they are better informed when making this decision.
