Cajon Valley Union School District Board Member – Tamara Otero – Elected as California School Board Vice President

Cajon Valley Union School District  is being put on the map statewide as eight-year CVUSD board member Tamara Otero was elected as California School Board Association Vice President. Tamara has spent the last 23 years advocating for the betterment of education for students and is a strong supporter of public schools and the success they bring to students. As a proven leader in various roles in education, her new position will bring her passion for students to the state level.

While serving as Vice President of the California School Board Association (CSBA), Tamara’s goals are to provide better education systems in California that provide more than just “adequate education,” while also improving funding for education. She also intends to make vast strides towards ensuring all students in California receive a 21st Century education that includes updated technology and supporting students socially and emotionally.

Tamara is excited to have the opportunity to share with the state what Cajon Valley and its leadership has accomplished. As a board member for CVUSD, Tamara’s leadership brought results to the District, including Cajon Valley’s acceptance into Digital Promise and the League of Innovative Schools. Having a member of the Cajon Valley Union School District serve on the Executive Committee of the CSBA will bring representation to Cajon Valley and other districts like it statewide.

As a member of the Executive Committee of the CSBA, Tamara will provide leadership to the association and be involved in ensuring the vision and mission of the California School Board Association is moved forward. She will also have a hand in the direction of policies, authorizing and monitoring programs, serve as a liaison between the Association and external groups, among many other important duties.
