London, UNITED KINGDOM, JAN 15, 2015 – On December 16, 2014, armed gunman stormed a school in Peshawar, Pakistan and killed 141 people, mainly children and teachers. It was a horrific act of terror that was later described by the BBC as the ‘Taliban’s deadliest attack to date’. Over 100 more children and others were injured.
In light of this devastating attack, Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), a non-profit support group that works to help rebuild lives affected by armed violence, have launched an IndieGoGo campaign. Their aim is to provide Trauma Support for the Peshawar Terror Attack Survivors.
AOAV seeks to offer the victims of Peshawar urgently needed psychosocial assistance to help them overcome the trauma of the event. Through careful counseling and rehabilitation, we hope to help rebuild the lives of those boys and girls whose lives and minds were deeply impacted on that winter day.
Any funds raised in this campaign will be primarily used to help the Peshawar survivors find some light in the darkness.
The funds, specifically, will be spent on a course open to 500 survivors and relatives of the attack – expenses such as food, transportation, printed material, facility hire and security will be covered. The fund also intends to support a peer-support monitoring program for the following 6 months.
Angel investors helping fund the Peshawar Terror Attack Survivors campaign to the next level will be eligible for perks such as thank-yous and they will be noted as standing in solidarity with the people of Peshawar.
The team also understands not everyone may be able to give money to help the Peshawar Terror Attack Survivors campaign, so they ask that those who cannot give monetarily help by spreading the word about the Peshawar Terror Attack Survivors project online through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr or record a video challenge for Vine, Facebook or Instagram to invite friends to give to or share this IndieGoGo fundraiser. Include #PeshawarSurvivors in all posts.
