Happy Stitching Tour Brings Crocheting Abroad

Chicago, ILLINOIS – JAN 19, 2015 – The Double Stitch twins grew up in the Chicago area Public School system after school programs where they learned to crochet.  They credit crochet with saving and empowering them as youth and now they would like to pass this skill that they have in turn been sharing with Chicago students with students abroad and they have launched an IndieGoGo fundraiser to help them raise the funds to make this trip abroad happen.

The Happy Stitching Tour with the Double Stitch Twins will be working with La Casa de la Artista, an artist residency program focused on providing opportunities for artists to travel and create while providing free classes to youth. This fundraiser will provide airfare, lodging and food for the twins while they teach free youth empowerment crochet workshops in Thailand, St. Thomas, the Czech Republic and then possibly on to Asia where they will tour teaching in Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma and Laos.

Angel investors that help fund the Double Stitch Twins happy stitching tour campaign, will be eligible for perks such as thank yous, virtual hugs, Social Media shout outs, a Message in a Bottle from Thailand, traveling trinkets, crocheted items and even a Double Stitch Twins pattern book.

The team also understands not everyone may be able to give money to help the Happy Stitching Tour with the Double Stitch Twins campaign, so they ask that those who cannot give monetarily help by spreading the word about the Happy Stitching Tour with the Double Stitch Twins project online through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr or record a video challenge for Vine, Facebook or Instagram to invite friends to give to or share this IndieGoGo fundraiser. Include #HappyStitchingTwins in all posts.
