Mapx is an innovative new project that allows anyone to save the map of their favorite place, regardless of where it is in the world. What makes it truly unique is that the map is created out of recycled pinewood and placed between two glass sheets which are then finished using a wooden frame, for giving it a personalized ‘floating’ wooden map look. The project is first introduced on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and reached almost half of its funding goal of $2826 with still a few weeks to go.
Mapx is not just a beautiful piece of décor but makes the perfect gift or a personal collectible item. It is a way to transform memories and emotions attached to a place into something real. The customers can simply provide the address of the place or screenshot of the map they want to get framed and leave the rest to the creators of Mapx, who carefully craft every individual piece with great precision and love. The result is something that transforms the look of the space where it is kept and tells a visual story for years to come.
Mapx is created by two young entrepreneurs from different parts of Spain, who took inspiration from their own adventures and experiences. Their idea was to preserve those memories into something tangible that initiates meaningful conversations in the room and reminds the user of the memories of the place they have preserved as a beautiful art piece. Mapx can be made in multiple sizes from Small to Large and even XXL, available especially through Kickstarter.
The joint of Mapx is made from leftover wood from furniture and the map is created using a 2.5 mm piece of recycled pinewood that fits perfectly in between two glasses to create the unique floating look. The backers have the chance to order Mapx in small size, for a special prize of €29 and the medium-sized Mapx at €35 and so on.
More information about the rewards can be found at Mapx’s official Kickstarter campaign page.
