On the afternoon of May 21, 2019, 2019 Yunnan International Smart Tourism Summit, themed on Smart Tourism For A Better Life kicked off, gathering over 800 guests in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. They are from governments, enterprises, finance fields, educational circles, international organizations, and other units in more than 20 countries and regions. These participants have shared insights around smart tourism, digital economy, integrated development of culture and tourism, finance-supported development of cultural tourism industry and explored the significant roles of digitization, AI, 5G, blockchain, and other new concepts and new techniques in Yunnan.
This grand event was hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Kunming Municipal People’s Government and Tencent, and undertaken by the Kunming Branch of China Tourism Academy & the Yunnan Provincial Tourism Planning Research Institute, the Kunming Cultural and Tourism Bureau and Tengyun Company. The event demonstrated in a concentrated manner the achievements and excellent cases of intelligent tourism at home and abroad. Experts from all walks of life interpreted the development trend of intelligent tourism, and discussed the co-existence and innovative development ideas of the cultural and tourism integration. Guests and friends from foreign countries and regions also shared the experiences of world tourism cities, and discussed the prospect of international intelligent tourism development.
On the same day, government leaders including Ruan Chengfa, Governor of Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, and Wang Xiaofeng, Member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, business leaders including Ma Huateng, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tencent, and Cheng Wu, Vice President of Tencent Holdings Limited and CEO of Tencent Pictures, as well as foreign VIP guests such as John M. Koldowski, Special Advisor to CEO of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and Assaf Biderman, Associate Director of Senseable City Lab of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), attended the event and shared their valuable experiences and insights.
