Los Angeles, CA – August 28, 2019 – Girls just want to have fun.
Produced by Big Film Kids and award-winning writer/director, Leslie Bloom (iTime Travel, Bill Nye the Science Guy, MAMA EARTH), WOODSTOCK OR BUST is a road trip of a lifetime, following two best friends who make it their mission to road trip east to the Woodstock Music & Art Fair.
“WOODSTOCK OR BUST is a small film with big ambitions. At its core it’s a road movie, telling the story of two teenage girls embarking on a crazy adventure. But director Leslie Bloom strives for more, using the 60’s setting to explore social and political issues in original and entertaining ways,” wrote Thoughts From the Screening Room.
Starring Willow Shields (The Hunger Games) and Meg DeLacy (The Fosters), WOODSTOCK OR BUST is an authentic female friendship story, loaded with nostalgia and groovy tunes. Following their musical ambitions, WOODSTOCK OR BUST follows two 17-year-old singer/songwriters best friends from the West Coast, Lorian (Shields) and Meryl (DeLacy), who seize the once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel cross-country to perform at New York’s famous Woodstock Music & Art Fair. Headed in a ’65 Mustang convertible headed East, the teens defy all odds, including their parents and better judgment, concluding in a road trip that will change their lives forever – full of self discovery, life-changing love, music and friendship.
“Both Shields and DeLacy are magnetic as their chemistry makes them out to be a Thelma and a Louise, just with brighter clothing and naivety that all of our younger selves can relate to. For it being her first movie, Bloom successfully captured the feel of the teenage friendship by remembering to make it realistic,” wrote The Movie Lovers Handbook.
Bloom’s indie-nostalgia has racked up several accolades, including three wins at the Los Angeles Film Festival 2019 (Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Cinematography) and two at the Artemis Women in Action Film Festival (Best Feature Pro-Action, Best Actress).
“WOODSTOCK OR BUST will bring memories of irresponsibility and summer-loving for anyone looking to get that last amount of heat before the darkness of autumn starts. Bloom manages to flawlessly bridge the gap between the Woodstock generation and audiences now, showing that no matter what is popular at the time, music and friendship are universal and can bring people together,” concluded The Movie Lovers Handbook.
