December 2, 2019 – There are many stunning islands in South East Asia. Thailand, in particular, has plenty of options to choose from but one of the very best islands is Koh Lipe. Simply put, it is one of Thailand’s best-kept secrets.
At kohlipeisland.org we offer up to date information on all the ferry routes to and from Lipe. With thousands of passengers each year traveling from Langkawi to Koh Lipe and island hopping from other more established Thai islands such Koh Phi Phi, Phuket as well as using the seasonal Koh Lanta to Koh Lipe route, Lipe is beginning to establish itself as the place to visit. Previously, Lipe was often overlooked and considered more difficult to get to than other islands in the region but, with increased ferry services, it is now far more accessible. Bangkok to Koh Lipe is even possible in one day.
Koh Lipe caters for all kinds of tourists, from budget-conscious backpackers on a gap year staying in beach huts to couples or families looking for boutique hotels or something a little more luxurious. The vibe is laid-back – the island isn’t seen as a party island like Phi Phi or Phuket – as the real reason for visiting is for Koh Lipe’s beaches. This is why tourists are now coming here in their droves.
The “word is out” on this little island’s crystal clear waters and powdery white sand beaches. The number of hotels on Koh Lipe has increased dramatically over the last ten years but, despite this, Lipe has still managed to retain its relaxed feel… After all, there are no cars on Koh Lipe – only a small bustling area where most of the bars and restaurants are located known as Walking Street. Most visitors to Lipe will explore Walking Street at least once. It breaks up the days of doing very little. Days on Lipe are usually sunbathing with a book on the handful of pristine beaches on offer or snorkeling in the clear waters. There is also diving on offer but, other than that, the most stressful thing would be drinking some sunset cocktails.
