Vermillion, SD – Jan 30, 2015 – Ariadne (Ari) Albright has announced her new series of paintings she wants to create for the year 2015. The exhibition will include ten large scale acrylic oil paintings that are inspired by her friend Bob Newland’s photographs. The vintage photographs are from 1970-1980’s days of the ’76 Rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota. Ari is naming this inspiring series Brother Bob’s Rodeo Paintings. She has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise capital to buy the supplies needed to create this body of work.
This unique series will incorporate different styles to portray realistic interactions from rodeo days in South Dakota. All photos capture the graceful moments of those fun wild days to show the courage and showmanship of the cowboys. It will represent the dynamic between the rough cowboys and their interaction with the animals as they compete. Bob’s photographs have also been featured in his coffee table photo book ‘A Hundred Pages or so of Days of ’76 Rodeo’.
In order to start painting these beautiful art pieces, Ari is raising funds to pay for tools and supplies to bring these large canvases to life. All capital raised will go to paying for stretch bars, canvas, gesso, paints, brushes, varnishes, and other things. It will also go towards the studio, insurance, and shipping of the Kickstarter rewards. She hopes to launch this new series by the end of this year and show it to her loyal fans a peak at the old western days. It’s beauty and realism will inspire audiences for its humor, strength, and excitement.
The campaign goal is $14,000 and must be reached by February 16th, 2015. If the goal is not met then it could be years before this project becomes a reality. When the goal is reached, supplies will be ordered and Ari will begin painting as soon as April. By July, she hopes to finish the canvas in oil paints and have it ready to be displayed by December of this year. All rewards are set to ship out by Fall 2015. There will be an exciting tour and exhibition of Brother Bob’s Rodeo Paintings at the Days of ’76 Museum in Deadwood, SD.
