Reino Eskelinen, an engineer who was born in Finland but has lived in Germany since 1979, has a landmark design for a new type of hybrid, emission-free motorcycle. He has a patent, a budget, a timeline and a business plan.
What he needs now is some financial and logistical support.
Eskelinen is looking for a hydraulic equipment company to provide parts for the construction of a prototype and/or a manufacturer to help produce the motorcycle.

“I’m taking a global view of this project,” says Eskelinen, who heads up Reino Race Consulting, which is based in Lorch, about 130 miles northwest of Munich. “It is extremely important that we develop a hybrid motorcycle. In a highly-populated city like Beijing, people sometimes cannot even breathe properly because of all the air pollution.
“Plus, in these crowded cities there is no room for cars so people use motorcycles and bicycles. Bikes are fine for short distances but a motorcycle is needed for any trip of significant distance. It’s for these types of situations that a hybrid motorcycle would really make an impact.”
Eskelinen, who has more than 30 years of automotive engineering experience, is confident that he can prove the value of a hybrid motorcycle by building a prototype, which can demonstrate the functionality and benefits.
“Don’t forget,” he adds, “a hybrid would also save on fuel costs.”
